Port Adelaide gun Jason Horne-Francis is glad teammate Mitch Georgiades is set to sign on at the club amid heavy interest from around the competition.

Georgiades is contracted for next year, but is expected to pen a two-year extension, taking him until the end of 2029 when he hits free agency, according to AFL Media.

Amid a difficult time for the Power, who are tipped to lose Zak Butters to a quartet of chasing Victorian clubs, Horne-Francis is buoyed by his teammate's faith in the club.

“It is good to know that one of our star players is keen to stick around with the process and what we're going through at the moment. Obviously it's a tough time, and we're battling at the moment, not winning games," he said on Triple M.

“It's good to know Mitch (Georgiades) just wants to stick around with us, and he loves the club and wants to get through this tough period and come out the other side.”

Georgiades has been linked to clubs in his home state of Western Australia, with West Coast more likely to pursue the youngster over Fremantle.

Victorian clubs have also kept an eye on the 24-year-old, including Geelong, who made a bold pitch to him and best mate Butters earlier in the year, which was swiftly knocked back.

Georgiades has continued his incredible rise to stardom as one of the leading AFL forwards. He's kicked over 40 goals in the past three seasons, including 46 in 2026.

The Power have struggled in their first year under Josh Carr despite showing promising signs throughout the season.

Port Adelaide have a chance to record their seventh win of the season against Essendon this week before hoping to turn a new leaf as they head into the off-season. They'll finish 15th.
