Kangaroos midfielder Trent Dumont is understood to be "gettable" this off-season, with Essendon revealed as one rival club to have already shown interest in the North Melbourne free agent.

As reported by SEN's Sam Edmund, the 26-year-old could be lured away from Arden Street for the right price.

Hailing from South Australia, Edmund believes a move back to his home state could also be on the cards, should the Power or Crows come calling.

“With Tom Rockliff retiring, I wonder if it could open the door for a recruit at the Power from North Melbourne?,” Edmund said on Whateley.

Trent Dumont is an unrestricted free agent, he still hasn’t signed to stay at Arden Street, he was dropped from the club’s leadership group.

“He‘s very much gettable for the right price.

“He got some nibbles last year, Essendon have been linked before, but I just wonder if the interest will come from the Power this time around.

“His family is there, he does have a link to Port in the form of Orazio Fantasia – the pair of them played in a Norwood premiership in 2013 under a current assistant coach at Port Adelaide in Nathan Bassett.

“Watch this space on Trent Dumont.”

Dumont has been a formidable asset to the Kangaroos since making his debut in 2015, where he has gone on to play 11 games in the blue and white.

His 2021 campaign has seen a slump from prior seasons statistically, having been more relied on through defence and out wide.

With a rising midfield crop of Luke Davies-Uniacke, Jy Simpkin, Jaidyn Stephenson, Jed Anderson and Tarryn Thomas, opportunities in the engine room might be best suited elsewhere for Dumont.

Dumont will line up for the Kangaroos this weekend as they face Sydney on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.
