GWS forward Jake Stringer has announced he will likely leave the Giants at the end of the season and return home to be closer to family in Victoria.
During a press conference on Thursday ahead of his 250th game, Stringer said Saturday's match against Adelaide would likely be his last at the Giants.
Stringer has had one of the best seasons of his career, booting 42 goals from 22 games.
The 32-year-old would leave as an unrestricted free agent and wouldn't cost a club much to acquire him. So who would be the leading contenders to sign for The Package?
Geelong
The Cats are firmly in the hunt for another GWS star in captain Toby Greene.
The 32-year-old is a mercurial forward-midfielder who is still impacting games and is understood to be eager to link up with best friend and former Giant Jeremy Cameron at Geelong.
However, if Greene decides to stay at GWS, the Cats could switch their attention to a similar x-factor player in Stringer.
The Package has had his issues and concerns about what he brings culture-wise, but Geelong would back in its ability to keep its culture strong while maximising Stringer's talent.
Stringer would pair up well alongside fellow mid-sized forward Oliver Henry and key forwards Shannon Neale and Cameron, and could be another worldie of a selection call by the Cats; a club known for making left-field decisions and making them count.
