GWS forward Jake Stringer has announced he will likely leave the Giants at the end of the season and return home to be closer to family in Victoria.

During a press conference on Thursday ahead of his 250th game, Stringer said Saturday's match against Adelaide would likely be his last at the Giants.

Stringer has had one of the best seasons of his career, booting 42 goals from 22 games.

The 32-year-old would leave as an unrestricted free agent and wouldn't cost a club much to acquire him. So who would be the leading contenders to sign for The Package?

North Melbourne

The Roos are climbing, and 2027 looms as a potential breakout year for the battlers at Arden Street.

North Melbourne's midfield is A-grade, and while the Kangaroos' defence needs another key defender or two, Stringer could be the perfect addition to the attack.

Stringer brings guaranteed goals and would alleviate some of the pressure on Nick Larkey, Cooper Trembath and Paul Curtis.

Mid-sized forward Zane Duursma may be on the move this off-season, and Stringer could easily slot into his role.

The move would also allow Cameron Zurhaar to remain as an intercept defender, where he is growing in confidence with each week that goes by.

The move wouldn't cost much and could help unlock the Roos' scoring potential next season.
