GWS captain Toby Greene can breathe a sigh of relief after he was cleared by the Match Review Officer (MRO) Michael Christian for his tackle on Gold Coast's Mac Andrew and subsequently free to play against St Kilda.

During the third quarter of their Suns-Giants clash Greene is seen taking down Andrew, with the young Sun's head making contact with the ground.

Andrew remonstrated immediately by grabbing the Giants captain's jumper and slinging him to the ground and was penalised for a free kick.

Fox Footy commentators at the time thought Greene would have something to answer for as the AFL is constantly working at preventing dump tackles from happening in the game.

Nick Dal Santo and Gerard Healy's reaction to the Greene tackle was that it should've been a free kick to Andrew and GWS might have something to answer for in the coming days.

"It's on behind play. It's Mac Andrew, who got dumped from the Toby Greene tackle and Mac's gone back at him," Dal Santo said.

"And has thrown Toby to the ground.

"It did look a little bit dangerous. That's not great (watching back on slow-mo)."

"This was a dangerous tackle. It should have been a free kick," Healy said.

Dal Santo added: "I think they'll (MRO) look at that one.

"It fits the category of a player who's in a helpless or defenceless position and whether there's enough force, whether he hit his head... but that didn't look great."

Andrews completed the game with no signs of a concussion.

Greene's incident wasn't referenced in the MRO's report that was released on Monday.

As for Richmond's Nick Vlastuin, he was also cleared of any match suspension but has copped a fine for his dangerous tackle on former teammate Dan Butler.

The MRO handed down a $3750 fine (which can be reduced to $2500 with an early plea) and was the only sanction from Sunday's games.

Vlastuin will be available for selection against West Coast in Round 5.
