Emerging interceptor Michael Sellwood has been ruled out of his side's elimination final rendezvous with the Adelaide Crows minutes before proceedings commences, through concussion.
More updates are expected to be forthcoming, with Fox Footy commentators speculating that it must have been friendly fire in the side's warm up that caused the youngster's head injury.
Emergency Lachlan McNeil replaced Sellwood in the side, leaving the Bulldogs undermanned down back against the threatening height of Taylor Walker, Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty.
Sellwood has played every game for the Bulldogs this season, emerging as a defender trusted as much for his intercepting instincts as he is for his one-on-one effectiveness - the West Australian has a strong contested one-on-one loss percentage of 20 per cent, from the lean sample size of just shy of one such contest per game.
The Bulldogs have started with aplomb regardless, dominating territory, in a start that would please coach Luke Beveridge. However, more reward for effort will be a focus for his side, who find themselves behind with mere minutes to play in the first term, despite a heavy advantage in the inside 50 count.
