GWV Rebels talent Joel Freijah is the latest draft prospect out of Horsham to be in the mix for an AFL list spot.
The talented teenager is a strong wingman who stands at 190cm and uses his elusiveness to dodge past his opponents and relies on a good tank to see out four quarters.
Freijah's best performance of the year came in Round 4 of the Talent League against Dandenong, where he booted six goals from 26 disposals and laid seven tackles to go with as many marks in a strong outing.
He ended his Talent League season with a mean of 19.6 disposals, 4.1 marks, 3.2 inside 50s, and almost a goal-per-game for the Rebels in 2023 from 14 games, earning a spot on the wing for the competition's Team of the Year alongside Tasmania's Colby McKercher.
Freijah would also represent Vic Country in all four of their National Championship matches this year, saving his best performance until last with a two-goal outing in a win over Vic Metro.
At the AFL Draft Combine he recorded a time of 6:13 for the 2km time trial to net a top eight finish and has also shown great speed for a player of his size.
A selection for Freijah could come in the back end of the first-round or late into the second night of the count, with his range quite broad given he worked through an up-and-down year.
Freijah's size and outside work may draw comparisons to the likes of Blake Acres and Jarrod Berry, who both hold down wing roles at competing clubs and can drift forward to impact the scoreboard.
