The Adelaide Crows and forward Josh Rachele are reportedly edging closer to securing a long-term contract agreement.

The 20-year-old Rachele, selected by Adelaide with the No. 6 pick at the 2021 National Draft, has been nothing short of an excitement machine in the Crows' forward sector since making his debut at the beginning of last season.

The Crows, who have already signed Rachele to an extension at West Lakes through to the end of the 2025 season, are looking to top-up on his current deal and take him through to free agency at the conclusion of his eighth season, according to's Cal Twomey.

While the Murray Bushrangers product has quickly integrated himself at the South Australian powerhouse alongside recruit Izak Rankine in the forward line, Rachele's growing midfield capability is evident and makes him an invaluable asset to coach Matthew Nicks.

The 26-gamer has played in all 13 of Adelaide's 2023 outings, already equalling his debut season total.

Rachele's Crows are currently on their bye before they prepare to do battle with the in-form Collingwood in Round 15, in what is set to be a blockbuster contest at the MCG.
