Sunday evening saw the TAC Cup team of the year announced and the winner of the Morrish Medal for the best player in this year's TAC Cup competition crowned.

As the AFL season draws to a close, clubs and fans start to look to trade period and the draft. This year appears as even a year as any, with several players touted as possible number one picks.

While unlikely to go number one, Jack Higgins further confirmed his top-10 credentials, taking home the Morrish Medal last night.

Higgins has enjoyed a brilliant season for the Oakleigh Charges, while he also enjoyed a stellar carnival, winning Vic Metro’s MVP and best and fairest awards and he was selected in the U/18 All-Australian team.

He has won plenty of praise this year and has even been likened to Brisbane Lions star Dayne Zorko.

Meanwhile the TAC Cup team of the year was also revealed last night, with all 12 teams represented at least once in the 24-man team.

Eastern Ranges had the most players selected with five, while Geelong Falcons had four.

Former North Melbourne and Collingwood player and current Gippsland Power coach Leigh Brown was named coach of the side, while Geelong's James Worpel was named captain.
