Carlton has won its 10th game under interim head coach Josh Fraser and is looking likely to lock in a wildcard position, a stark contrast from their nine games under Michael Voss.
Speaking on the Six Points AFL podcast, Mark Stevens believes there is no one else to take over Carlton's vacant coaching role.
"Well, you can lock it in; it has to be," Stevens said.
“Reminds me a lot of the Paul Roos situation, where Terry Wallace basically had the job up there at Sydney, everyone got behind Roos, and it's just the momentum, the snowball effect, it's over; well, there is nobody else now.
“They have to do it now, it's people power. It happened in Sydney, members have their say, it's a members' footy club, and there's no doubt that it will be Josh Fraser now.
“Look, I'm not on the panel, and I'm not Chris Davies, but I just can't see him not getting the job.”
Six Points co-host Daniel Harford has been impressed with Josh Fraser's coaching record as the interim coach.
“Josh Fraser, what he's done, he's 10-2 now in his reign as the interim coach; no interim coach or caretaker coach has ever taken a team to finals," Harford said.
"Now it's an extended finals bracket this time for the first time in AFL footy, but all of a sudden they are in the ten, and if they can beat the Bulldogs next Sunday, they lock in a wildcard spot, which would have been unfathomable ten weeks ago.”
Stevens believes the Blues will lock up their wildcard position this weekend against the Dogs.
“I think they'll beat the Dogs, because the Dogs are in a weird position now where they can sort of have half a spell and I don't think Freo will be overly serious when they come here for the final round over at Marvel," he said.
"I think Carlton will win their last two.”
