Name: Matthew Ling
Position: General defender/outside midfielder
Club: Geelong Falcons/Vic Country
DOB: 21-4-1999
Height: 182cm
Weight: 74kg
Draft range: 20-30

Summary: Pacy midfielder with elite foot skills but doesn’t find a lot of the ball.

Strengths:

  • Speed
  • Agility
  • Kicking
  • Endurance

Weaknesses:

  • Not a natural ball winner

Overview

Ling can play either as a useful rebounder off half-back or as an outside midfielder. He is an elite kick of the ball and is lightning fast, running a 3.03 second 20-metre sprint at the draft combine.

He came third in the yo-yo test at the combine with a score of 21.8 but despite his endurance, has never been a huge winner of the ball. Regardless, AFL clubs may see him as a solid option given elite kicking and speed are so heavily sought after.
