With just under half of the home-and-away season left, we've now seen enough from this season's new recruits to determine whether they'll be successful or not with their new clubs.

For every trade that hasn't worked out so far (Chris Mayne to Collingwood and Tyrone Vickery to Hawthorn) a lot have been good deals for the new clubs, and we've decided to list our top five recruits of 2017.

Marley Williams (North Melbourne), Sam Mitchell (West Coast) and Michael Hibberd (Melbourne) were all notable absentees from the list, as we opted for players who have made bigger impacts at their new homes.

5. Jarryd Lyons (Gold Coast)

After playing 55 games for the Crows between 2012-2016, Jarryd Lyons moved from Adelaide to the Suns along with pick 71 in exchange for picks 43 and 67, and the midfielder has already paid dividends.

Lyons has played every game for the Suns so far this season, and is averaging 25.5 disposals, 4.6 tackles and 6.3 clearances a game.

Along with Michael Barlow - who will now miss the rest of the season with a broken leg - the duo have added much needed depth and talent to a young Suns midfield.
