The AFL has been encouraged to send young Brisbane defender Ty Gallop straight to the Tribunal after the incident involving Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades.
Gallop is in hot water after his dirty off-the-ball act in Brisbane's 59-point victory over the Power.
Speaking on the Six Points AFL podcast, Daniel Harford believes the AFL MRO should punish these types of dirty acts differently from the rest.
“Mitch Georgiades was face down, and Gallop picked him up by the jumper and slammed him into the deck, headfirst. What the hell is he doing?”
“This is where a ‘Goose tax' should come in. If it's not a football incident, if it's an off-the-ball non-football incident, it should be a week before you start; if you get guilty, then add the rest on at the tribunal. ' Goose tax '- we should bring it in.
“Straight to the tribunal, serious misconduct, there is an elevated clause of serious misconduct, and I would be absolutely prosecuting this as far as I can if I were the MRO and the tribunal, if it gets to that point, cannot have that, absolutely unacceptable, unnecessary and totally out of line.
“Well, he'll be having a holiday; he deserves a holiday for that. It was a horrible thing to see - off the ball, unnecessary, bloke's face down and clubs him into the deck; that was totally out of line.
"He's had such a good year too, he's been such an important player for the Lions, and they've found one; he's been such a good story, and he goes and does something like that.
“I think the tribunal will make him remorseful; hopefully, he is because that was a horrible thing to do.”
Six Points co-host Mark Stevens believes that this incident is worse than a dangerous tackle and believes Gallop will see a lengthy ban.
“I think you add in another week, cause it's totally non-football, the ball was nowhere near, and he sort of got up sheepishly, didn't he? He looked around and thought, I hope nobody saw that."
“There's no way that Michael Christian will say that's one week.
“It's worse than a dangerous tackle; this was a deliberate act, a really bad one, so three to four weeks I would say.”
