Gold Coast (3-10, 17th)
What's gone right: Gold Coast showed what they were well and truly capable of in the first month of the AFL season. Sitting at 3-1 after four games, the Suns were showing the fight and hunger that they were devoid of for the majority of the 2018 season. Even in some of their losses (against the Saints and Dees, for example) the Suns were able to produce a more than competitive showing, coming narrowly close to recording wins in those matches.
What's gone wrong: While they may have had a strong start to the season, the facts are that the Suns have lost their last nine matches, and patience must be wearing thin among Suns fans. They can continue having honourable losses and suffering near-misses, but if they were to finish the year with only the three of four wins, it's safe to say that many at Gold Coast would feel underwhelmed with how the season panned out.
Best and fairest: Brayden Fiorini is stringing together a very impressive season for the Suns. Now in his fourth season in the AFL system, the 21-year-old is having a career-best season for the Suns in 2019. Fiorini is averaging just under 28 disposals a game, adding a new element to the Suns' midfield and proving himself to be a more than capable player.
Season grade: E
Giving the Suns a fail mark would be far too harsh, given the signs they have shown and the impressive run they went on at the start of the season. But they need to pick up from those first four weeks and start to pick up a few more wins if they are to truly take something out of this 2019 campaign.
