North Melbourne (5-8, 13th)
What's gone right: Albeit a slow start to the year, North Melbourne has been able to show what they are capable of under caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw. For whatever reason, things just weren't working for North under Brad Scott this season, and given the promising performances of North in recent games, maybe Scott leaving now really was the best for all parties. North is certainly on the back foot but don't count them out of the finals race just yet.
What's gone wrong: Simply put, anytime that a coach and club part ways after 10 rounds means that things aren't great. A poor start to the season meant that North had been severely underwhelming, when many had, in fact, tipped them to be contending for finals in 2019. If they do indeed fall just short of the mark in 2019, a lot of it can be attributed to their poor start to the season, in which they sat at 2-7 after the first nine games of the year.
Best and fairest: Ben Cunnington has been absolutely dominant for North Melbourne in the midfield and would be stiff not to be leading the Syd Barker Medal as we speak. The 27-year-old has been at his best in 2019, with the inside midfielder adding some grunt into the North midfield, putting him well and truly in the fold for his first All-Australian selection.
Season grade: D
North has been able to salvage something of their season in recent weeks, and are perhaps justifying the bold decision of the club and Brad Scott to part ways after only 10 rounds. Finding a spot for themselves in the final eight come the end of the season may be a bridge too far, but they can certainly give it a go and see what they are capable of for the rest of the season.
