It's football's night of nights.
The Brownlow rewards the brilliance of a given season, but the Australian Football Hall of Fame rewards the brilliance of a given career. Everywhere you turn, heroes from bygone eras are mingling with more recently retired phenoms.
With so much footballing acumen in the one place, I sought to find out just who some of these greats are tipping to win it all on the last day in September.
Andrew McLeod (Fremantle)
"It's hard to go past "Freo" they're playing some really good footy at the moment, and they're probably the team to chase," the dual Norm Smith Medallist told Zero Hanger.
When quizzed about the fortunes of the Crows - the side he represented so capably for so many years - McLeod was optimistic that their early season slump has given way to something closer to their best.
"It's taken them a little while to get going. They'll be pretty buoyed by the last few weeks, and being able to get some continuity. They've had a few injuries and haven't been able to produce the footy they'd like to, but they're starting to play some good footy at the right time."
"Bunji" still gets taken aback by those he shares the distinction of Hall of Fame membership with, some 12 years since his own entry.
"It's a bit of a humbling experience. The calibre of people in this room - it's definitely the night of nights for the AFL."
