Injured Saints forward Josh Bruce says emerging teammate Jade Gresham has untapped star power potential.

Gresham is enjoying a breakout season for St Kilda, booting 28 goals for the season including the match-winner against the Suns during round 13.

And Bruce thinks he has seen enough to suggest that the 20-year will be one of the top tier players of the competition one day.

“I don’t want to put too much pressure on the kid because he’s young, but he’s starting his career off like a Robbie Gray or even a Gary Ablett,” Bruce told the AFL Nation pregame show before Friday night's game.

“He's just an elite, elite small forward. He hasn’t got the tank yet, but you never know (if he could go into the midfield).

“In three or four years, you never know what he could become."
