Western Bulldogs defender Rory Lobb is understood to be interested in joining St Kilda in the upcoming trade period.
Lobb has been a watch throughout the year after being thrust into the ruck in the absence of Tim English at times, despite having a desire to play in the backline.
Despite multiple reports indicating that interest from the Saints has cooled, according to a report on AFL Trade Radio, the move is well and truly on.
Lobb's interest in moving comes as the Bulldogs locked away Buku Khamis on a five-year deal amid heavy interest from Carlton.
Adelaide free agent Jordon Butts is tipped to shoulder some defensive responsibilities once his move is confirmed, while James O'Donnell has developed into the club's best backman.
Lobb - who is contracted for next year - would be a much-needed defensive piece for St Kilda.
The 33-year-old has played 81 games for the Bulldogs since joining from Fremantle at the end of 2022.
Callum Wilkie and Jack Silvagni have shouldered the load in 2026, but Ross Lyon didn't have many other soldiers.
Anthony Caminiti and Alix Tauru were used sparingly, although the latter has been put up on the market.
Caminiti played 18 games, but has struggled to cement a spot inside 50 or in defence.
Tauru's talent means multiple clubs will push for his services, especially given the Saints won't be as reluctant to part ways with the former Pick 10.
The Saints will also work through ruckman Rowan Marshall's trade request, who is interested in joining Geelong for the second year in a row.
Marshall worked in tandem with Tom De Koning for the past 12 months, but is interested in being the No.1 ruck, which he will be at the Cats.
