Debate over the value and future of St Kilda young gun Alix Tauru has risen in the wake of reports that the former top 10 pick recently toured Gold Coast's facilities as he weighs up his future in the red, white and black.
Tauru, who is contracted at Moorabbin until the end of next year, has fetched interest from the Suns, and could have more suitors queuing up for his services given his "untapped potential".
Given the timing of his contract's expiry, Tauru is anticipated to be a player of interest to Tasmania ahead of the Devils' maiden season in the AFL.
Speaking on the AFL Trade Show, reporter Aidan Cellini raised the Swans as another club that could make a play for the teenager.
"There are a couple of clubs that could pursue him. We know the Suns have welcomed him to their facilities, and there's Tassie as well," Cellini said.
"There's the Swans as well. There's a bit of uncertainty about their list."
Discussing the value Tauru possesses, the AFL Trade Show's Darren Parkin said that while there is plenty of upside in the Saints' swingman, there have been concerns with his discipline on the field in his short time at the top level.
For keen clubs, the benefits could far outweigh those concerns given Tauru's ability as a high-flying star of the future.
"There's a lot of potential there, but clearly he's had issues with discipline or how he uses his aggression. A couple of times he's been slightly late with a bump or tackle, or he's let the anger spill over," Parkin said.
"He can certainly jump and take a mark. Can play forward or back... I've always had Tasmania in the back of my head as him being a potential marquee signing.
"But what would he be worth? It's untapped potential."
