The Sydney Swans have been threatened with civil legal action over the Pullman Hotel incident in Melbourne.
It's understood, per a Sydney Morning Herald report that Carbone Lawyers, who are representing two of the women involved, have sent legal letters to the club and five players.
Riley Bice, who is no longer a person of interest to police, is facing potential legal proceedings alongside Taylor Adams over the alleged incident according to the report.
The club, as well as Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner and Nick Blakey have also been sent letters.
James Jordan has not been sent a letter.
It's understood that in the statement of claim, the club is being considered liable for the players' actions because they are under their employment.
The club and players have been, per the report, given an invitation for discussions to take place out of court though, potentially avoiding the civil suit.
The incident, which saw the five players stood down for the rest of the AFL season, sent shockwaves through the competition, with the players involved maintaining their innocence repeatedly and police never laying any charges.
It's understood two of the women are suffering severe trauma-related disorders from the incident, while it's also understood the police investigation has been expanded to investigate another individual who is alleged to have secretly recorded the alleged victims.
The AFL integrity unit is also aware of that development, and the recording has since been seized by Victorian police.
Four of the players are still at the Swans and will be eligible for selection in the opening round next year, while Blakey has joined the North Melbourne Kangaroos.
The incident impacted the end of the Swans' season, with the red and white winding up being knocked out during a preliminary final against the Fremantle Dockers.
