Frustrated and restless, North Melbourne coach Brad Scott insists the club is still working hard and aims to resolve the issues that have lingered during their winless start to the 2019 season.

After falling short to Hawthorn on Sunday afternoon, the 16-point loss will see them 0-3 as they head into round 4.

"Yeah, I'm aware of that (the club's record)," Scott said post-game.

"What do you want me to say?

"You drum it up, mate, but we've just got to hang in there.

"We've got some things we'd like to straighten out, but those things will straighten themselves out if we continue to work really hard on it."

If these issues weren’t enough, Scott is also restless as team selection becomes harder and harder each week.

The off-season saw North Melbourne recruit Jared Polec, Aaron Hall, Jasper Pittard and Dom Tyson, whilst Jed Anderson, Sam Wright and Tom Murphy are all putting forward strong cases for selection in the senior side.

"There is a lot that goes into selection. Do you want me to put someone's head on a platter for you? I'm not going to do that," Scott said.

"You can keep asking, but I'm not going to do that. Mate, we'll name our team every week and you can read about it."

In his 10th season at North Melbourne, Scott has led the side into finals four out of five years between 2012 and 2016.

The disappointing start to 2019 has brought criticism to the club; however, Scott highlighted how different the public’s opinion would be if North secured the win in rounds two and three. Whilst this is all well and good, North wasn’t able to hold onto their lead over Hawthorn or Brisbane to secure a win – and that’s what matters.

"We've just got to make sure that we can put everything in place we want to put in place and execute for longer," the coach said.

"The nature of the game is that if you don't win, you're really disappointed – everyone's disappointed – but it's a fine line that people recognise.

"We'll just hang in and keep working really hard and history tells me the teams that do that really well come out all right in the end."

Keeping faithful as they enter round four, Brad Scott hopes that North Melbourne can prove critics wrong as they come up against Adelaide at Marvel Stadium this Saturday.
