The Geelong Cats have emerged as a potential suitor for wantaway Bomber, Zach Merett.
As they so often do in a footballing sense, the Cats will be competing with Hawthorn for the midfielder's services.
The Hawks will have their hands full, as attempts to lure the likes of Ben King to their Dingley facility take priority, with Geelong viewing Merrett as a potential running mate for the likes of Bailey Smith and Max Holmes in their midfield.

As revealed on Channel Seven's The Agenda Setters, master coach Chris Scott is believed to have texted Merrett directly to signal his club's intentions.
"Geelong has made an unexpected play for Zach Merrett via their coach Chris Scott." 👀

A move to perennial contenders the Cats would present a rather obvious change in fortunes for a man who has spent much of his career shouldering a significant burden at the Hangar, with very little help.
A potential trade to the Hawks fell through last year, and Geelong have a history of getting exactly what they're after at the trade table.
