North Melbourne are considering a second attempt at luring Greater Western Sydney superstar Josh Kelly to Arden Street, per The Herald Sun's Jay Clark.

The Kangaroos were on the front foot when it came to negotiating with the silky midfielder three years ago, offering the 25-year-old a nine-year, $9 million deal at the time.

Now entering the final year of his contract and seen as one of a dozen big names set to enter free agency this year, Kelly could be persuaded to move back to Victoria after sevens seasons at the Giants.

The Kangaroos will once again be stacked with a war-chest to invest for the 2022 season and beyond and could either opt to splurge and lure a star name or two from a rival club or invest in their promising youth at hand.

Kelly joins fellow AFL stars Patrick Cripps, Marcus Bontempelli, Max Gawn, Luke Parker and Zach Merrett as a handful of the plethora of big names that are out of contract at the season's conclusion.

While the money could be put on the table for Kelly, his desire for a premiership is likely to be play a major role, with the Kangaroos entering another season of rebuilding after a 17th-placed finish in 2020.

North Melbourne axed a total of 15 players from it's list at the end of last year in a cut-throat off-season period and will now turn to the future under new coach David Noble.

Carlton is also understood to be showing some interest in Kelly, while the Blues will also have their attentions set to Zach Merrett, according to The Herald Sun.
