Essendon's Jye Caldwell has been charged with striking by the MRO after punching Nick Daicos in the abdomen during Tuesday's ANZAC Day clash, fined $3000 as a first offence.
The third term incident saw Caldwell immediately come under scrutiny, with the MRO grading the punch as intentional conduct, low impact, body contact.
Punches to the stomach are generally graded as intentional conduct and low impact, with the MRO waiting on a medical report from Collingwood before making the judgement on Caldwell.
Daicos remained on the field in the aftermath of the incident, kicking two goals in the final term to help the Pies over the line in a comeback win.
The fine sees Caldwell free to play in Essendon's Round 7 clash against Geelong, scheduled for Sunday, April 30 at 1:10pm AEST at the MCG.
Teammate Dylan Shiel was also handed a sanction, fined $1500 for careless contact with an umpire in the third quarter. The Bomber can accept a $1000 fine with an early plea.
