The AFL isn't perfect, no matter how much we wish it was.

Outside the product on the field, there are plenty of improvement areas that should be addressed by the league's powerbrokers.

Whether it be the amount of advertisements, or the AFL using its platform for more good, I have five ways the AFL could improve a fan's football experience...

Ticketing

The AFL experience starts well before arriving at the stadium. For many, it starts sitting frustrated behind a computer screen.

All MCG events (except one: the 2026 NFL Melbourne Game) are sold through Ticketek, a website somewhat renowned for crashing during heavy traffic times. Marvel games, on the other hand are sold through Ticketmaster as are Optus stadium and SCG. If you want tickets to an Adelaide oval event or the People's first Stadium, you'll have to jump back over to Ticketek.

Pair this confusion with varying levels of memberships, digital queues and rising ticket prices and I think we can all agree, there has to be a less confusing way to do this? Right?
