The AFL isn't perfect, no matter how much we wish it was.

Outside the product on the field, there are plenty of improvement areas that should be addressed by the league's powerbrokers.

Whether it be the amount of advertisements, or the AFL using its platform for more good, I have five ways the AFL could improve a fan's football experience...

Wider range of food

We're all familiar with the half-time dash for hot chips. A steady stream of people, all aiming for the same six boxes left on the warming rack, all trying to beat the queues to ensure they're back in their seats in time for the siren.

I'm sure we all agree, it's not our favourite time of the match.

Not only does the AFL traditionally offer a fairly small range of dietaries (I remember many a dinner of exclusively chips and jam doughnuts during my vegetarian years and I'm sure the celiacs amongst us also struggle), the overcrowding and long lines are also a deterrent to hungry fans. Australian stadiums may do better to follow the examples of their overseas counterparts, such as Madison Square Garden, which hosts many small food stands that allow crowds to disperse and reduces queues.
