AFLPA president James Gallagher has spoken publicly for the first time since the concussion saga.
Speaking on SEN ahead of Friday night footy, he condemned what took place and revealed discussions have taken place since the news broke.
"I think for us, it actually doesn't really matter who approached or how it came to be," Gallagher said.
"I think we've been really clear that the document just shouldn't have been in place and that's ultimately the conversations we've been having with both the AFL and with Geelong in recent days.
"At the end of the day, the document is seeking to, I guess, change the rights and entitlements of a player; that just shouldn't exist.
"And so it comes down to both sides have ultimately entered into it, and we just shouldn't have been in that position."
It comes as Jake Kolodjashnij came forward as the player at the centre of Geelong's concussion bombshell.
The 209-game defender made a statement on Friday evening to address the incident which has captured the football landscape since news first surfaced on Thursday morning.
"While I appreciate the efforts made not to identify me, the speculation has left me feeling I needed to address this personally," the statement read.
"I participated fully in the AFL's independent concussion panel process, respected its independence, and was comfortable with the outcome. I have continued playing AFL football since.
"What disappoints me most is that my private medical information has been made public. Everyone deserves the right to keep their confidential medical information private.
"I want to thank my family, the AFLPA, my manager, my teammates and the football club for their support over the past 24 hours. I am healthy, feeling good, and focused on playing my role for the team for the remainder of the season."
Kolodjashnij has played 11 games this season, most recently featuring in the Round 18 loss to GWS Giants.
It follows Geelong chief executive Steve Hocking fronting the media on Friday afternoon after the club received a please explain for the saga.
