All-Australian defender Lachie Whitfield is being shopped by the Giants, as Adam Kingsley's side looks to rejuvenate their list through the National Draft before Tasmania enters the competition.
GWS are open to parting ways with Whitfield, but for a handy selection; Carlton and Melbourne are believed to be leading the chase, although the Blues loom as the favoured destination.
Whitfield's age and salary may make it hard for a potential suitor to stump up a first-round pick in this year's draft.
Despite Carlton's anticipated busy off-season, with Joel Amartey and Cody Walker, these three deals could help get the Whitfield trade complete.

Carlton trade: Picks 16, 24, 2027 first-round pick
There is no doubt Whitfield is still a quality player, and his accolades show that, including making the 2024 All-Australian team, but at age 32, his career is closer to the end than the start.
In this first deal, the Blues would jump from Pick 16 to 7 in the first round, and slide from 24 to 28 in the second round, and give up their first-round draft pick in 2027, which would end up being a late first-round pick, as it will at minimum slide back three spots, with Tasmania holding picks 1, 3 and 9.
The Blues would hold Picks 7 and 11, which would net Carlton 2,748 points, enough to match a bid for Cody Walker at Pick 2, but not Pick 1.
The Giants may be reluctant to agree to this deal, but it could be the framework of a move that could help Carlton secure Walker and net the Giants a first-round pick.
