The AFL have confirmed Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes and Brad Scott will join the selection panel for the All Australian team in 2022.

Scott has been added to the panel in his new role as general manager of football at the AFL, while Cornes and Buckley will join the panel to replace Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea, who are both set to retire from their duties after an eight-year stint as selectors.

A former Hawthron and Brisbane Lions player between 1997 and 2006, Scott played 168 games, before coaching 211 in charge of the North Melbourne Kangaroos between 2010 and 2019.

Cornes played 300 games during his career for the Port Adelaide Power between 2001 and 2015. The midfielder won the AFL premiership in 2004 and was a two-time All Australian himself, while he was also inducted into the Port Adelaide hall of fame in 2019.

Buckley also had a successful career as a player, spending 260 of his 280 games at the Collingwood Magpies. He also played 20 at the Brisbane Bears and spent two years in the SANFL before that. The 2003 Brownlow Medalist and 2002 Norm Smith Medalist was a seven-time All Australian before coaching Collingwood in 218 games from 2012 to 2021.

The executive general manager of football operations at the AFL said he was delighted all three were jooining the penal, with the trio all holding AFL life membership.

Buckley, Cornes and Scott join All Australian Panel

The AFL advises Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes and Brad Scott have joined the All Australian Selection Panel for the upcoming 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Buckley and Cornes replace the retiring Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea, who had both served eight years as selectors after joining the panel in 2014, while Scott will also join the panel as part of his role as AFL General Manager, Football.

AFL Executive General Manager Football Operations Andrew Dillon said he was delighted Buckley and Cornes had accepted invitations for the role as selectors, with the pair and Scott all having earned AFL Life Membership for their contributions on-field at the elite level.

“The AFL is also thankful to Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea for their dedication and time as selectors over the past eight seasons, as nomination as an All Australian is a considerable honour for any player."
