The soft tissue complaints that have dogged Taylor Adams for much of his career have again bitten the beloved 32-year-old, after his VFL return was cut short on Saturday.

Adams' hamstring was again the source of the injury, as the former Giant and Magpie managed just two touches of the Sherrin before exiting the field of play.

It's been a torrid few years for Adams, who has had to overcome groin, adductor, Achilles and multiple hamstring complaints, as well as the traumatic assault endured at a Sydney nightclub in the pre-season.

After injury robbed him of the chance to feature in Collingwood's drought-breaking 2023 premiership - a flag that would've meant so much to a man who featured in previous Grand Final and preliminary final losses for the Pies - Adams returned to the Harbour City in search of a fresh start.

Unfortunately, that fresh start has netted only 23 appearances in the top flight since the beginning of 2024.

With his contract due to expire at season's end, another injury was the worst case scenario for Adams, as it means even less games at as his disposal at he attempts to earn an extension, and prolong his career.

Scans in the coming days are sure to reveal the severity of the latest hamstring complaint, and a return to play timeline will be communicated by the Swans in the days afterward.
