Collingwood forward Jordan De Goey has unveiled which rival club offer had him contemplating a change of jerseys.

Last season, De Goey was the target of a $5 million dollar deal from North Melbourne, which he admits had him at least thinking twice about his future.

Once the young superstar was aware of the details on offer, it was something him and his manager had to discuss further.

"Probably the only time I thought (about leaving Collingwood) was when my manager on the phone said 'North have upped their offer' and it was $1 million," De Goey said on the Jock and Journo podcast

"And I said '$1 million (total)?'

"And he said '$1 million-a-year for five years', and that's when I was like, 'Oh s**t'.

"In terms of money, what was I, 22?

"Everyone wants to be a millionaire, don't you?

"To hear that, it's cool and I appreciate that they (North) could have that thought about me, that I could become (worth) something like that."

The 23-year-old booted 48 goals for Collingwood in season 2018, and it was the growth in relationships he had enjoyed being a part of which prompted his decision to stay in the black and white.

"For me it was pretty simple in the end," he added.

"I'm a people person. All the people we've got at the footy club are awesome people, they're just genuine.

"They care about you as a person. All the people we've got at the footy club are awesome people, they're just genuine.

"They care about you as a person and not just as a footballer.

"For me that's all I want because when I'm happy and enjoying what I'm doing, when I've got good relationship with the people around me - that's when I'm going to be happy.

"And when I'm happy that's when I'm playing my best footy."

De Goey will feature in Collingwood's Round 2 match-up against Richmond at the MCG tonight, a rematch of last year's preliminary final.
