The 2026 trade and free agency period is done, but there is no rest for the wicked in the AFL.

List managers and recruiters will already be doing the groundwork on next year's uncontracted stars, trying to lure them to their respective clubs.

And 2027's list of uncontracted players and free agents is eye-catching.

Here at Zero Hanger, we have listed the 14 biggest names that head into next season with only one year remaining on their deals, and the clubs that will be eyeing them off like a lion with a gazelle.

Jack Sinclair

The St Kilda star is co-captain of the club and a beloved Saint.

But when any player comes out of contract, there is a natural lure for what else might be out there.

If St Kilda does not progress up the ladder as it hopes next season, could Tasmania, with its very deep pockets and sign-on bonus, encourage Sinclair to move south?

Sinclair will be 32 next season and 33 by the time the 2028 season starts, so a healthy and long contract from the Devils could help him secure his future if the Saints can't match it.

St Kilda will also be trying to keep superstar Wanganeen-Milera on its books while looking to lock away the future of emerging star Max Hall at the club.
