The 2026 trade and free agency period is done, but there is no rest for the wicked in the AFL.

List managers and recruiters will already be doing the groundwork on next year's uncontracted stars, trying to lure them to their respective clubs.

And 2027's list of uncontracted players and free agents is eye-catching.

Here at Zero Hanger, we have listed the 14 biggest names that head into next season with only one year remaining on their deals, and the clubs that will be eyeing them off like a lion with a gazelle.

The 25-year-old key defender was subject to trade speculation after he fell out of Geelong's best 23 in 2026.

De Koning's talent is undoubted, and he is a premiership-winning defender.

However, the Cats now have Connor O'Sullivan, Tom Stewart, Jack Henry, Jordan Ridley and Zach Guthrie in defence.

De Koning will hit free agent status next season and the likes of Tasmania, North Melbourne, Melbourne and more would be expected to come calling.

Would a change of clubs help the 204cm key defender rediscover his best form?

Potential suitors: Tasmania, North Melbourne, Essendon
