The 2026 trade and free agency period is done, but there is no rest for the wicked in the AFL.

List managers and recruiters will already be doing the groundwork on next year's uncontracted stars, trying to lure them to their respective clubs.

And 2027's list of uncontracted players and free agents is eye-catching.

Here at Zero Hanger, we have listed the 14 biggest names that head into next season with only one year remaining on their deals, and the clubs that will be eyeing them off like a lion with a gazelle.

Fremantle's inspiring skipper will have a chip on his shoulder after this year's Grand Final loss.

Had the Dockers lasted four minutes longer in their Grand Final defeat to the Lions, Pearce could have potentially been open to the Devils' pursuit of him.

The 31-year-old is a Tasmanian and a fantastic leader on and off the field.

If Fremantle were to secure redemption and win its maiden premiership in 2027, the door may be left ajar for the Devils to snare Pearce.

He has said previously that his future remains at the Dockers even if they had won the flag this year, so at the moment you have to take Pearce at his word.
