North Melbourne and Alastair Clarkson have parted ways after four seasons together, even with one year remaining on his deal.

Clarkson returned to Arden Street ahead of 2023, and coached the club on 82 occasions for 20 wins.

Surprisingly, the Kangaroos rose from consecutive three-win seasons to nine this year, and were closing in on a Wildcard Round slot, but fell short.

Here are 13 names who could be a part of the North Melbourne conversation...

Interestingly, a lot of these names were part of the Carlton and Essendon coaching process.

James Kelly

The Geelong great has a desire to become an AFL senior coach, and his closeness to the Essendon and Carlton roles continues to further his agenda.

After a successful playing career at the Cats, Kelly quickly moved into the coaching space, staying on with Essendon in 2018 for three seasons.

He returned to where it all began at Kardinia Park for the 2022 season, and has been under Chris Scott ever since.

Who better to learn from than one of the coaching greats of the modern era.
