The past decade has showcased the glorious highs and deflating lows of football.

The game of Aussie Rules is filled with ecstasy and agony both on the field and off it, testing the emotional strength of its fans.

Collectively we have compiled a list - in no particular order - of the most passionate, heart-breaking and compelling moments in the AFL from the last 10 seasons.

3. Deledio cheered off ground after finals injury

Former GWS player Brett Deledio was cheered off the ground in the first round of finals in 2019 against the Western Bulldogs after injuring his knee.

Chasing a flag he never received, Deledio was carried off the ground at the end of the GWS game where they smashed the Bulldogs by 58 points.

Deledio reportedly almost cried after he felt a "grab" in his calf, knowing this would likely be his last game.

With St Kilda legend Danny Frawley's sudden death in Deledio's mind, he acknowledged how lucky he was for the opportunity.

“I think I have been dealt a pretty healthy dose of perspective with what’s happened in the AFL world in the last 48 hours. It is only a small part in what really matters,” he said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity I got to play that last game — if it is my last game. In the same breath it is only a small part of what really matters in the world.”
