Sam Berry
This nuggety Crow is on a heater, of late.
He's one of a handful of Crows whose play has directly correlated to a change in fortunes for Matthew Nicks' side, and he deserves to be rewarded for it.
It is his grunt work that allows the flashiness of his contemporaries to shine. Berry is among the competition's premier defensive midfielders. His seven and a half tackles per contest is the highest average of any player to feature in at least three matches, and the Gippsland native also ranks inside the top 10 for average pressure acts across the competition.
He stands up in big moments, too, having won the Showdown Medal earlier this season, with his 19 tackles in that contest, a driving factor behind the nod.
Although he may be at the mercy of a stacked midfield crop - one that includes a few of his more fancied teammates - Berry's name is one that warrants consideration.
