Sydney are sweating on scans for experienced forward Taylor Adams, who left the field in the last quarter after feeling hamstring tightness.

Adams was mown down by Hawthorn veteran Jack Scrimshaw halfway through the last quarter, and grabbed at his right hamstring as play continued around the 31-year-old.

A dejected Adams was seen on the interchange bench soon after, indicating the end of his night.

Swans coach Dean Cox said the former Magpie would be sent for scans and assessed over the weekend, with hopes that he had avoided a major setback.

"Unfortunately for Taylor it's a tight hamstring, so we'll find out how bad that is," Cox said.

"We'll get it scanned and assessed tomorrow or Sunday.

"It wasn't great for him to be in that position. He's one of the senior ones in that forward line to really try and quell and keep the ball in our front half.

"We'll get it assessed and let everyone know."

Another injury setback at Sydney would be a frustrating prospect for Cox, who was without star midfielder Errol Gulden (ankle), key forward Logan McDonald (ankle) and skipper Callum Mills (foot) on Friday night.

Brodie Grundy and Tom Papley, who both passed respective fitness tests to play on Friday, made it through the Opening Round encounter unscathed.
