Geelong has been issued a please explain for its secret concussion deal with a player.
Cats chief executive Steven Hocking confirmed the news at a press conference on Friday afternoon while defending the club's process and praising former president Craig Drummond but he could not speak to Craig Drummond's role in the saga.
“He was very well represented both legally and by his family,” Hocking said.
“I've spoken to that player today and he still feels that care from the club is as strong as ever."
Hocking also admitted that the AFL should have been notified of what occurred.
“I'm very confident I've got a board that is very supportive and I'll take full responsibility for it," Hocking said.
“I'm CEO of the Geelong Football Club. We'll work through it over the coming week as we have been over the last couple of days."
The saga has been widely condemned since the story broke on Thursday morning given the player welfare risk the squad member assumed by signing the now void waiver.
