Sydney has confirmed that five stars will not be considered for selection for the remainder of the 2026 AFL season, including the finals.

Those Swans players are Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, Isaac Heeney, James Jordon, and Chad Warner.

There's an ongoing Victoria Police investigation following the report of an alleged sexual assault.

The ban includes the club's Round 24 clash with North Melbourne.

"The AFL is supportive of the Club's sanctions," the statement said.

"We respect there is an ongoing investigation by Victoria Police, and the actions we have taken today are independent of this."

Sydney chief executive Matthew Pavlich clarified that there is no official curfew in place, but the five players breached the club's standards of staying out late, drinking and extending their night as well as bringing women back to the hotel.

“To say we're disappointed (in the players) is an understatement,” Pavlich said.

“We're deeply embarrassed and ashamed that the poor choices of five of our players

“This sanction is only as it relates to the players' behaviours and the standards that we accept and were expected of them post-game on Sunday night and into Monday morning.

“We are deeply concerned about their welfare and the wellbeing of those women. We ae here to acknowledge those allegations. It's a police matter.

“(The breach) was staying out late, drinking, continuing to continue their night, bringing women back to the hotel. It was a long way short of what we expect of our players. They were well short of what we hold as that standard.”

Swans chairman Andrew Pridham didn't shy away from the serious nature of the situation as it unfolds.

"The fact we've got to the place we are today, to effectively suspend the players as we are heading into the finals series, tells you how seriously we've taken it. They shouldn't have been in that situation of being out that late."

AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon also labelled the alleged assault as "deeply concerning".
