Sydney will begin to have a "strong discussion" around huge selection calls ahead of Friday night's preliminary final against Fremantle.
The Swans will be forced into at least one change, with captain Callum Mills downed by an ACL injury, opening the door for forgotten midfielder Justin McInerney to return to the side.
McInerney has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Round 13, and the extra week between finals has given him the best chance to be available.
"It's a strong discussion," Swans coach Dean Cox said on Fox Footy.
"We monitor his training over the past month or six weeks, what he's actually done, how much he's done, and he's ticked every box all the way through.
"We'll watch our main session on Wednesday to make sure that he gets through that and then sit down with Justin and the medical team and coaches and go through that process."
Key forward Joel Amartey is also pushing for selection as he overcomes an Achilles injury, while key defender Lewis Melican could also be considered tackling the Dockers' key forwards.
Swans stand-in captain Dane Rampe is confident that despite his under-manned side, which is missing at least five of their best 23, they can still progress to the third grand final in five seasons.
"That's been a real strength of ours throughout the season: we've had Nick Malceski come in as a VFL coach. And he's having them play unbelievably well, and that's put pressure on the guys in the team," Rampe said.
"And it means that the players that do come in, as you've seen over the last few weeks, they come in and they perform their role to the standard and they do it really well.
"So there's going to be pressure for selection, but that's a sign of a good club and a good team, and we welcome that.
"No matter who comes in, even with five to six out of our regular 23, we're really confident they can come in and play a role. That's what we saw against Brisbane. Yes, it's a different challenge against Fremantle, but it's one we're confident we can compete in."
