Swan confirms retirement

Collingwood champion Dane Swan has confirmed his retirement from AFL football in an email to Collingwood members.

Swan played 258 games in an illustrious career for the Magpies.

He is a premiership player, a five-time All-Australian, three time Collingwood best and fairest winner, AFL Coaches Association player of the year winner and a Brownlow Medalist.

The 32-year-old’s career was cut short after suffering a serious foot injury in Round 1 this year.

Despite initially holding out hope of playing again in 2017, the injury has ultimately forced him into retirement.
