Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has been awarded the AFLCA's Coach of the Year award for 2026.
The Dockers leader guided his side to their second ever minor premiership and second ever Grand Final appearance after a dominant home-and-away season. And possibly the club's first ever premiership this weekend.
Longmuir led his players through a club-record 14-game win streak during the year which was pivotal in securing top spot on the ladder for Fremantle.
In a club statement on Tuesday night, Longmuir reflected on receiving the coveted award.
“It is a great honour to win the Allan Jeans AFLCA Senior Coach of the Year award and join the prestigious list of coaches to have claimed it in previous years,” Longmuir said.
"The moment I started coaching, I fell in love with the profession - I get to go to work every day and help players to achieve their goals. That inspires and drives me to be the best coach I can be.
"I see this award as a reflection of the entire coaching group at Fremantle. I couldn't ask for a more driven, selfless team of coaches to work with and I thank them for their dedication and support.”
Longmuir beat the likes of Brisbane's Chris Fagan (his opponent in this Saturday's Grand Final), Melbourne's Steven King, Sydney's Dean Cox and Carlton's Josh Fraser for the award.
