The Gold Coast Suns have ended their pursuit of star Magpie Adam Treloar, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

Treloar was linked with a move north after his partner signed a 10-month contract with the Queensland Firebirds for 2021.

The gun midfielder's manager, Tim Hazell, shot down the move, with the 27-year old contracted to the Magpies until the end of the 2025 season.

And now Edmund reports that the Suns have "conceded defeat" over the prospect of luring Treloar to the club.

It comes just 12 months after both clubs discussed a blockbuster deal involving Treloar, but the Suns refused to part with Pick 1 or Pick 2.

Gold Coast are believed to be keen to trade their first round pick this year - currently Pick 5 - to land a seasoned player.

Collingwood are embarking on a crucial off-season as they look to re-sign a host of uncontracted players with a tight salary cap, including Darcy Moore, Jordan De Goey and Brody Mihocek.
