Brisbane 24.11 (155) def. Canberra 10.6 (66)

Once again Brisbane has walked away with four points, holding on to their undefeated start to the season. Six rounds into the NEAFL season and Brisbane continue to dominate the competition.

Forward Ben Keays continued his consistent 2019 season, finishing the game with 16 disposals and three goals. Teammates Rhys Mathieson and Toby Wooller also kicked three goals each, with Wooller continuing to push for an AFL call up.

Lewis Taylor and Ryan Bastinac led the disposal count with 35 and 36 disposals respectively. Lewis, who was omitted from the senior side, also kicked a goal.

Brisbane will enjoy a week of in round seven, before returning the following week to face the Giants.

Aspley 8.12 (60) def. by Gold Coast 13.11 (89)

Gold Coast recorded their second win for the season with a 29-point victory over Aspley.

Will Brodie, who was drafted at pick 9 in 2016, continues to push for a senior recall, after only playing two AFL matches this season. The young star led the disposal count with 32 possessions alongside five marks and four tackles.

Brodie was closely followed by duo Jacob Dawson and Josh Schoenfeld, who gathered 26 and 25 disposals respectively and were attacking at the contest.

Young draftee Ben King also performed well, bagging three goals from his 13 disposals.

Gold Coast has a bye in round seven but return in round eight where they will face the string Sydney side.

Sydney 17.14 (116) def. Sydney University 14.10 (94)

Sydney came out firing, snagging six goals in the first term and taking a 33 point lead. They continued to dominate the game, eventually leading to a 22 point win over Sydney University.

Ryan Clarke and James Rowbottom continue to put themselves in frame for senior selection, the duo having yet another stellar performance. Clarke followed up last week’s 47-dispoals with another 40 possessions in his side’s win. Prized draftee Rowbottom finished the game with 27 disposals, eight tackles and two goals.

Sydney also welcomed Daniel Menzel last week, who played his first game for the Swans following a groin injury and subsequent re-injury that saw him sidelined for a majority of preseason. Menzel moved smoothly, kicking three goals from 11 disposals.

Like Brisbane and Gold Coast, Sydney will also enjoy a week of this week as they prepare for their match against Gold Coast the following week.
