Star Sun claims top spot, four players earn top votes: 2022 AFL MVP – Round 20

There's a new name atop the leaderboard following the conclusion of Round 20, with Touk Miller continuing his impressive season for the Suns. Andrew Brayshaw and Patrick Cripps have held their spots in the top three, with a Demon duo following close behind.

Each round this season, the Zero Hanger team - consisting of editor Mitch Keating, general manager Nick Splitter, deputy editor Ed Carmine and writer Dani Sorati - will vote on every game to establish our AFL MVP for 2022.

Fremantle Dockers vs Melbourne Demons 

Demon Jack Viney was a standout on Friday night, earning all 20 votes for his 33 disposal effort. Teammate Christian Petracca followed close behind with 30 disposals and six clearances as Melbourne stormed home to a big win. Veteran Docker David Mundy did plenty throughout the Friday night affair, while Andrew Brayshaw continued his impressive season.

Josh Daicos earned plenty of votes for his performance against the Power. As the Pies claimed their tenth consecutive win, the in-form wingman had 26 disposals and three clearances while amassing a game-high 659 metres gained. Jordan De Goey impressed on his return with two goals, while Connor Rozee and Travis Boak impressed for the Power.

The Swans ran rampant at the SCG on Saturday afternoon, with Luke Parker claiming the best afield honours for his 34 disposals, seven tackles and six clearances. Plenty of other Swans impressed, with Errol Gulden stiff to miss out on the five votes after 33 disposals and two goals, while James Rowbottom earned votes for his performance.

Rowan Marshall earned full votes for his dominant performance against the Hawks, with 30 disposals, nine marks and 34 hitouts to his name at the final siren. The Saints dominated the votes in what ended up as just a 12-point win, with Brad Crouch and Jack Steele earning plenty, while Tom Mitchell was the lone Hawk given a nod for his 31 disposals and four clearances.
