St Kilda have confirmed that Max King won't make his return to the side this weekend, set to have to wait another round for his first appearance of the year.

King has been sidelined with a shoulder injury for the entirety of the season, but is edging closer to a return.

As the Saints prepare to take on Adelaide in Round 9, King was a potential inclusion after strong progress in his recovery but the Saints have no confirmed the 22-year-old won't feature.

Jimmy Webster however has been cleared to return. The 29-year-old hasn't featured since Round 3 after suffering a broken cheekbone, but is now available for selection for the Round 9 clash.

“Jimmy has been cleared by his specialists and is ready to go, which is great for him and the team,” St Kilda head of football David Mission said.

“As for Max, we feel another week of full training will better set him up to perform potentially next week.

“He's put in a lot of hard work over the summer to get back, so we're not going to be impatient this week.”

Both Rowan Marshall and Jade Gresham have been cleared after their respective concerns in Round 8's win over North Melbourne, with the club expecting them to play this week.

“Jade received a knock to a previously injured knee during the game, so we subbed him off as a precaution, but he's come up fine," Mission said.

“As for Rowan, his was a pretty standard rolled ankle, which he'll manage throughout the week, but we don't anticipate it impeding him this weekend.

“However, both Jade and Rowan will need to complete training on Friday, which we expect, to play on Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Dan McKenzie, who hasn't featured for the Saints since Round 13, 2022 is now expected to make his return to the side in 2-3 weeks as he nears a return to full training from a calf injury.
