The specifics of Port Adelaide's push to secure prized Pup Josh Dunkley have been revealed, with the Alberton side claiming they will only part with a singular first-round selection to secure the 25-year-old's signature.

While out-of-contract at the Whitten Oval, Dunkley is yet to gain free agency status, having been drafted to the Dogs ahead of the 2016 season.

At present, Dunkley has three offers on the table, with the Dogs and Power joined in the race by the Lions.

However, Port Adelaide is said to have an edge in the race, as Dunkley's partner, Tippah Dwan, currently plies her trade for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Super Netball competition.

As Jon Ralph of The Herald Sun reported, the Power has reportedly made a lengthy, multi-year offer to the Sydney-born Dog, with Dunkley tipped to earn within the vicinity of $650,000 per season.

Currently, the Power holds just one first-round selection - pick 8 - at this season's draft, however, this opening pick will almost certainly be pushed back to the 9th of the night following Brisbane's eventual matched bid for father-son gun, Will Ashcroft.

Given the Bulldogs' season only came to a close on Saturday night, the turnaround for a decision from Dunkley has been made at speed.

Still, with Dunkley's future the point of much conjecture for the past 24 months, a decision, either way, will put an end to the ambiguity.

In September of last year, Zero Hanger's Jake Benoiton was told by Dunkley's manager, Liam Pickering, that the midfielder was on the verge of re-signing with the Bulldogs.

Across the course of his 108 outings in red, white and blue, Dunkley has slotted 60 majors whilst averaging 22.4 possessions.

Dunkley enjoyed a dream start during his tenure as a Dog, claiming premiership honours in his debut season of 2016.
