Richmond duo Hannah Burchell and Laura McClelland will miss the remainder of the AFLW season after suffering ACL and syndesmosis injuries respectively.

Burchell was stretchered off Whitten Oval in the third term of Sunday's loss to the Western Bulldogs after awkwardly landing on her left leg in an attempted tackle.

The club have since confirmed the 26-year-old has ruptured her ACL, ending her 2022 campaign at Punt Road.

“Serious injuries are always hard to take, and we are incredibly disappointed for Hannah,” Tigers AFLW footy boss Kate Sheahan said.

“We will support ‘Burch’ as best we can, and she has the entire football club behind her for the full timeline of her recovery and rehabilitation.

“Hannah is a great person to have around the Club and even while injured, she will continue to have an impact on the group with her uplifting personality.

“We are wishing her all the best for her recovery.”

Burchell's injury added to an already difficult Sunday for Richmond, with McClelland having been ruled out of the match in the first half after suffering an ankle injury.

The Tigers utility is set to join Burchell on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, with club medicos confirming the 20-year-old is battling with a syndesmosis injury.

“We are incredibly disappointed for ‘L-Mac’, who has worked really hard throughout the offseason to establish herself in the senior team,” Sheahan added.

“Injuries are an unfortunate part of football and L-Mac is another player that we as a football program and club will wrap our arms around.”

The pair of setbacks compound the Tigers' injury woes, with Harriet Cordner (ACL) and Courtney Wakefield (shoulder) currently in rehabilitation.

Richmond may also lose onballer Kate Dempsey for their Round 6 clash with the Kangaroos as she battles an ankle injury, with further assessment required before a decision on her selection is made.
