St Kilda has suffered a major blow with star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera ruled out for the next three weeks.

The official line on Saturday night when he was a late withdrawal despite travelling to Darwin was that he was managed, but a subsequent scan revealed a minor calf strain.

The 23-year-old pulled up sore following the Carlton game in Round 8 after copping a knock to his lower leg.

Initial scans were inconclusive, with the club giving him every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the Darwin match.

“We gave Nas every opportunity to get up for Saturday night, but ultimately decided to err on the side of caution,” GM of Footy Lenny Hayes said.

“Despite presenting with minimal pain, results from his latest scan have confirmed a minor strain.”

The Saints face Richmond, Fremantle and Hawthorn during the period he is expected to be sidelined.

"There was a little bit of soreness, we thought it was a corkie, so he had a scan," Lyon said post game.

"There was a little bit of bleeding and they (medical team) think it's a corkie still.

"They couldn't make a definitive decision, so we need another week to let it settle. We'll find out during the week."

Meanwhile, co-captain Cal Wilkie has been cleared to play after sitting out the second half due to a knee to the back.
